Where Todoist wins

  • Genuinely cross-platform with polished apps everywhere — Windows, Linux, Android, web, plus Mac and iOS; Daytactic is Mac-only with no mobile app.
  • A widely-praised natural-language quick-add engine ("Submit report Friday 3pm #work p1") more mature than Daytactic's quick-capture panel.
  • Real-time collaboration and shared projects — Daytactic has none, it's single-user only.
  • A deep third-party integration ecosystem (Zapier, Gmail, Slack, calendar apps, and more).

Where Daytactic wins

  • One-time $39 vs. Todoist's recurring subscription (prices rose again in December 2025).
  • Much broader scope: CRM, goals/OKRs, journal, and notes alongside tasks — Todoist is a focused task manager, not a life-management system.
  • Meeting recording, local transcription, and automatic task creation — Todoist has no meeting-capture feature.
  • Two-way native calendar sync (EventKit) with per-calendar rules across any calendar source — Todoist's calendar sync only covers Google Calendar and only timed tasks.
  • Local-first data on your Mac; Todoist is fundamentally a cloud service.
vs Todoist

Should you actually switch?

Can I import my Todoist tasks?
Not directly today — there's no built-in Todoist importer. You'd need to recreate projects and tasks manually, or export from Todoist and bring them in by hand.
Is Daytactic's quick-add as good as Todoist's?
Not yet as mature. Todoist's natural-language parsing for dates, priorities, and labels is one of the best in the category. Daytactic's quick-capture panel is simpler.
Do I lose collaboration features by switching?
Yes, entirely. Daytactic has no shared projects or real-time collaboration. If you share task lists with other people, Todoist is the better fit.
Why would I pay $39 once instead of $5/month?
Over a year, Todoist Pro runs about $60; Daytactic is $39 once, with every 1.x update included. It's also a broader system: CRM, goals, journal, meeting capture. If you only need task lists, that breadth may not matter to you.
